I would recommend this book because so many different people can relate to it. For instance, teens growing up all face difficult and confusing problems and sometimes feel as though they have no one to talk to or that no one can understand what they are going through. In reading "Kissing Doorknobs", you understand that there are people out there that can help you and will listen and care. The book was about a girl named Tara growing up with Obsessive Complusive Disorder and being confused because she didnt know what she was suffering from and she findly found out what it was and found the strength and courage to defeat the "tyrants" in her head. If you were reading this book and had obsessive compulsive disorder, then it might help you find the courage and strength, just like Tara, to defeat this terrifying disease.

I think the book Kissing Doorknobs is a must read. It's an incredible story and gives a lot of information on OCD (Obsessive Compulsive Disorder). This book is about a girl named Tara who discovers she is paying more attention to the cracks on the sidewalk after she hears the rhyme, "Step on a crack and break your mother's back." Slowly her problems get worse she talks to trolls, kisses the front doorknob every time she wants to leave the house, prays every time someone swears in front of her, worries about her parents staying out late, stays up until they get home, and organizes her food before she eats it. These problems become noticed by classmates who begin teasing her. Her sister, Greta, wants to defend Tara and will even beat people up for her.Tara's mother gets really frustrated with Tara and hits her every time she kisses the doorknob. She repeatedly goes to psyciatrists that can't seem to help her. This continues until Tara's dad has a visitor over. This visitor knows about OCD and suggests that OCD might be what is causing Tara's problems. He gives her the name of a special psychiatrist that can help her, and the name and number of one of the doctor's patients. Tara does visit the "special" psyciatrist even though she "hates" her. She meets Sam, who has problems with washing his hands to often, and they begin to get involved...until and unexpected event happens and it changes everythingThsi book is one of the best books I have read in a long time. I couldn't wait to pick it up and let the book pull me in and fill the environment around me with it's vivid details. I had to be forced to put it down because this book was the kind of book that you want to finish reading once you start it because of the suspense. I woiuld recommend it to anyone because of it's quality. I loved this book and hope there will be a sequal because of how abrupt the ending was.

I got this book yesterday and I finished it in 1 and a half hours. It was recomended to me by a friend of mine at school. The cover was cool so i decided to give it a try. As soon as I got the book, I was swept away into a wonderful story about a girl with obsessive behavior. Tara Sullivan begans getting weird habits at the age of 10 and from then on they get much much worse. Her habits get so bad that she had emotional breakdowns and she can no longer hang out with her firends. Her mother thinks that she is going mad and send her to many doctors. Finally she finds a friend in the super cool chic Donna, who indulges in drugs, smoking and unsafe sex. That just goes to show that you can find friendship in the strangest places. When she is with Donna, her counting, praying, and arranging habits dissolve. Then she meets the incredicble cute Sam, a boy with OCD too. Together they find strength enough to fight the tyrants in their heads. The book ends magnificantly and I think that tara and Sam deserve a SEQUEL! This book was great for me because, even though I don't have OCD, I have some weird habits too, like folding my clothes before I wear them, skipping the first and last step on the stairs, obsessive neatness , and certain eating habits. Reading about other peoples' "quirks" makes it easier to understand my own quirks.

Ever known anyone with OCD (obsessive compulsive dissorder) or wondered what it made people do? Tara is a 14 year old girl who lives with this problem, however she is unaware of it and thinks something is terribly wrong with herself. She has her little rituals which she practices daily (some include praying when someone swears, counting cracks in sidewalks, and kissing a doorknob 33 times). Her parents think she is crazy and Tara believes she is to. Until she meets someone special who changes her life for the better... If you are curious about the brain and how it works and what makes people do this, I suggest this book. I enjoyed it because I never knew why people did these things and I thought that they were just plain crazy. But as you read you really learn that you can't control yourself, you have no control at all. The rituals are weird, but interesting however it was a quick read and quite enjoyable. Note: This book does include some subject material (including swears, sex, etc.) but I still suggest that you read this book, and hopefully you will enjoy it as much as I did!
